In 2002 I started handling Borzoi for Phyllis Potter of Islehaven Borzoi located here on Lopez Island, Washington. At the time I had much experience in owning dogs and loving them over the years, but no experience with show dogs. My background had been extensive immersion in the horse world - both 3-day eventing and dressage. This had been a life long passion from my youth, but time and circumstances no longer allowed me to realistically dedicate my time to this passion.
Phyllis had recently acquired a puppy, Truhaven's Apollo of the Isles, and already had a bitch, Truhaven's Infinity, that she wanted help with showing. This was a great opportunity for me to be introduced into the world of dog shows. Within a year I had my own borzoi. To this day I still handle and co-own borzoi with Phyllis. I also frequently lend a hand in the show ring for Zabava if I can. Below are some images of a few of the memorable wins over the years.
